Are we opened minded ?

MC Assignment (D L)  (W 8) (Q 7) (4/8)

Q:  Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.

Honestly when wrote until this 4th blog, I could say is at the bottle head and can't figure out anything to write but since when I have a chat with the lecture on tutorial, I found out one facts that actually quite true about Celebrity in Malaysia that will make us surprise about it but it was true. Because we are a country will different nation, do we actually know the celebrity in the other nation like Chinese knew Malay and Indian celebrity or same go to them? This facts i quite lack in searching for references because it quite less I could found so I just do the old way "questioning" the people and the answer is just as I thought. Well anything say easy to explain in a picture so let take a look.

Because I can't find any research on the web that can prove my word, so I go ask people from different place in different area. First I ask a Malay Restaurant boss about few Chinese and Indian celebrity that is quite famous in our country but he refuse and say he dunno who they are until the photo is show to them. Second i go to a Indian Restaurant also for the same purpose but the result also remain the same but they did recognized the Malay celebrity that is Dato's Siti Norhaliza. last I go to a Chinese Restaurant also but this time I quite shock because they only know few Chinese celebrity then other races is unknown to them. But after asking maybe the reason is about the entertainment that we watch in daily life. You can't expect to saw Malay show in Chinese Channel right, like in Astro Hua Lai Toi won't play any Malay or Indian Show and same goes to other TV channel.

But unlike the Japan Celebrity that I do for my 3rd blog cal Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, All japan citizens know her and quite familiar with her in some way like the elder know about her for music style and fashion, kid know her because of singing the theme song for kid cartoon Crayon ShinChan and teenager kow her as an Idol. SO this make like people from different generations have a know about her.

So I can't say it our people fault to not know all celebrity from difference in our country because we did not familiar with other nation celebrity as well and we can't compare with Japan because their only having 1 nation in their country so it not a problem to promoting any celebrity in their society but this case was difference in our country.

Well what I can say is we need to improve our familiarity to our other nation celebrity so that it won't be a shame if next time some tourist asking about the celebrity that came from our country but we does not know who they are.

Well this for today blog, Hope to write the 5th Blog soon after I finish my other assignment, See ya .

Different place different result

MC Assignment (D L)  (W 8) (Q 7) (3/8)

Q:  Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.

From what I have mention last article, today I gonna do the comparison for celebrity in our own country Malaysia and Japan and both celebrity I choose is under from the singer industry because if compare those celebrity that from different industry was quite unfair to one of these in the following article.

The celebrity that I chose from Malaysia is Siti Nurhaliza binti Tarudin that all malaysian knew about her from her fame and achievement in the music industry; and from Japan celebrity in music industry that i choose is Kiriko Takemura or be well know as Kyarypamyupamyu in the industry career.

For our beloved DIMP.Siti Nurhaliza binti Tarudin, when she was back there in her young life, she been sang for event for gathering or wedding ceremony because of her family business and house income resources but she keep practice and participation in any song competition and  she finally competed in the 1995 RTM Bintang HMI competition where she auditioned with a song made famous by Ruth Sahanaya, and that the start line of her greatest career to world know celebrity. But actually she was becomes famous in Indonesia first instead in her own country, she been score few well know achievement basically from the oversea like 1999 Dec the event "Shanghai Asia Music Festival 1999" push her to the high top of her career for that time. After she become famous in oversea, she been giving the DIMP title by Malaysia and be call the bright star in Malaysia music industry.

And for the celebrity that I choose from Japan, Kyarypamyupamyu  started as a fashion blogger, and then began her professional career as a model for Harajuku fashion magazines such as Kera! and Zipper. After achieving a measure of fame, Kyary collaborated with the Eyemazing company to produce a line of fake eyelashes called "Harajuku Doll". She also began appearing in local fashion shows.
Kyary explained her stage name in a Japanese MTV interview. Wearing blonde wigs as a fashion affectation in high school, a friend began calling her "Kyari" because she embraced Western culture and seemed "like a foreign girl". The name stuck. Upon starting her blog, she felt the name "Kyari" — a phonetic Japanese spelling of the Western name "Carrie" — was too short, and "missing something". She added "Pamyu Pamyu" because it sounded cute. She states her full stage name as "Caroline Charonplop Kyary Pamyu Pamyu" (きゃろらいんちゃろんぷろっぷきゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ Kyarorain Charonpuroppu Kyarī Pamyu Pamyu).
In April 2011, along with Japanese fashion editor and photographer Yasumasa Yonehara and Japanese (fashion?) brand 6%DokiDoki, Kyari Pamyu Pamyu participated in the charity event "One Snap for Love" to benefit victims of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
In July 2011, Kyary released her first promo single, "PonPonPon", citing Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry as inspirations at that time. The music video, a psychedelic tribute to kawaisa and Decora culture, was released to YouTube and became a viral hit, leading to it being reported on by MTV and The Huffington Post. The single was produced by Yasutaka Nakata and is the first release from Kyary's debut album, Moshi Moshi Harajuku, which was released August 17, 2011. "PonPonPon" was released on July 20, 2011. On July 31, 2011, the song entered Billboard Japan's Hot 100 chart at 72. American rapper G-Eazy sampled the song on his single "Lost in Translation". "PonPonPon" topped the iTunes Electronic Songs Chart in Belgium and Finland.
On August 3, 2011, her second promo single "Jelly" was internationally released via iTunes. A week after the release of Moshi Moshi Harajuku, Kyary released an autobiography about her rise to fame titled, Oh! My God!! Harajuku Girl.

From study about the detail background of the 2 celebrity that I choose for this topic, I found out that actually our country Malaysia is not so welcome the fame that celebrity that from other industry. Because from what I study in DIMP.Siti Nurhaliza binti Tarudin I found out that usually a Malaysian been giving the celebrity title after they obtain enough fame & achievement from the oversea then the government just started recognized them as Malaysia Celebrity. This same goes to the Dato' Michelle Yeoh that I mention in last article. both of them was been know as celebrity of Malaysia but they both also get the title after achievement the Fame from oversea.

But from Japan, even some of them getting started like from Blog fashion artist but they get their fame and move up to the music career then the celebrity of they own country all by doing in national but not international. This topic was let me know that the path to become a Celebrity in a Country is difference in each single country and i quite surprise that the path of become a celebrity in Malaysia is so funny and creative compare to other country celebrity.

That all I wan to say in this article, Please be look forward to my next article even through I still dunno what the topic i gonna chose next.

See ya !

What this mean for us ?

MC Assignment (D L)  (W 8) (Q 7) (2/8)

Q:  Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.

The tips of become famous, go create a new world record or something awesome to make people knew you. JAMIE FRATER. by The 10 tip to become famous

Well since I have written the definition of celebrity in the previous post, I'm will written what the celebrity look like in the public in our country.

So in nowadays the modern age, people or public aren't hard to be become a celebrity because of the power of technology and public social network like Instagram, Facebook, and other website. But to become a celebrity is usually not a big hard deal but is you want to become the good side or the bad side of celebrity?

Well like our Malaysia Famous Artist that work with oversea, Dato' Michelle Yeoh is proud to be call the famous celebrity of Malaysia with her fame and strong identity that let the foreigner know about our country because of her. But the Namewee even through also make himself famous in the internet and be famous in oversea but when the public talk about him, bad thing come first before the good and this doesn't make our country look good.

From the article that wrote by Donna Rockwell,  Celebrity has been watered down considerably since those innocent days, when being called a celebrity really meant something: it meant Elizabeth Taylor and Johnny Carson; it meant Picasso, Princess Grace, Sidney Poitier, Frank Sinatra, and Andy Warhol seducing the spotlight with staggering precision. Warhol was prescient, in fact, when he revised his earlier adage that everyone will have 15 minutes of fame to the more cryptic, "In 15 minutes everybody will be famous."

The evolution of our celebrity-driven society finds us the unwitting consumers of celebrity "news," as we glare at Justin Bieber's televised breakdown or tsk-tsk over the star's potential downward spiral. The parables of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and their generation of celebrity peers have yet to be told, while the very sad tale of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger, River Phoenix, and so many others should, though it doesn't, send shivers down Hollywood's collective celebrity spine. Celebrity weight is a lot to carry. and .....................

So in the end, to be celebrity that represent a country will be a tough job cause every single move by them is represent the country. So I guess I stop at here, in my next article I try to add in some other country celebrity to compare with our country. So please be look forward to, Thank you.

Are you the one ?

MC Assignment (D L)  (W 8) (Q 7) (1/8)

Q:  Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.

A:  The meaning of celebrity that found by me is listed down as the detail below.

Origin:

late Middle English (in the sense 'solemn ceremony'): from Old French celebrite or Latin celebritas, from celeber, celebr- 'frequented or honored'.

Definition:

Celebrity refers to popular fame and public attention in the media, usually applied to a person (a 'celebrity', 'celeb.' or 'star'), or group of people (celebrity couple, family etc.), or occasionally, to animals or fictional entities. Celebrity status is often associated with wealth (commonly referred to as fame and fortune) and fame can often provide opportunities to make money.

Various careers within the fields of sports and entertainment are commonly associated with celebrity status. In other cases, people become celebrities due to media attention for their lifestyle or wealth (as in the case of a socialite); for their connection to a famous person; or for their actions.

After written the explanation of celebrity, i guess i will start my next blog soon to catch up time to complete it right on time.
